We each have our own personal best. What’s yours?

The London 2012 Olympic Games was a defining moment that brought the nation together, capturing the nation’s hearts and inspiring a generation. Yet a recent YouGov poll revealed that 76% of the population is unable to name a single legacy project and that over 90% have not taken up more exercise or started doing more volunteering as a result of the Games. Britain’s Personal Best is our biggest chance to re-‐ignite the spirit of 2012 and empower the nation to take control and achieve their own personal best in the footsteps of their Olympic heroes, whether it is in sport, arts, culture, business or the local community.

One of the first projects funded by the Big Lottery Fund  to keep the spirit of 2012 alive, Britain’s Personal Best is building on how inspired we felt after London 2012. It is about each of us digging deep and finding something amazing, whatever our age, ability or resources and whether we take on a challenge that is intellectual, sporting, artistic, healthy or just plain scary.

The first Britain’s Personal Best event weekend will take place 4 - 6 October 2013. Some people will be raising money for their favourite charities, doing something that they have never achieved before together as teams or as individuals. Join in at www.whatsyours.org
