The British Council, Creative Economy


Ladbury have been working with the Creative Economy Department of the British Council since the beginning of 2014. Creative Economy is dedicated to supporting talent right across the globe through international collaborations, skills and policy development. Ladbury have been at the forefront of promoting its core ambition of promoting a wider understanding of culture and its positive impact on economic, technological and social development.

The British Council, in partnership with Watershed and Future Lagos has launched Playable City lagos. Rooted in the challenges and opportunities of one of Africa’s fastest growing cities, Playable City Lagos will support, inspire and challenge participants to develop playful interventions intersection of art, technology, society and culture. Responding to specific social challenges and geographic locations in Lagos, participants will be supported to create ideas and working prototypes that can be demonstrated as part of a public showcase.

Applications are now open for three UK-based and seven Nigeria-based creative practioners to be part of the project (deadline 5 January 2016)
