Handle Productions | Moomins on the Riviera
Working with Rebecca Ladbury has been a pure joy: efficient, cooperative and professional. In whichever order you want.
Moomins on the Riviera is a sumptuous hand drawn animation of Tove Jansson’s original comic strip first published in the London Evening News (now Evening Standard) 60 years ago, in 1954. 1914, and Ladbury were commissioned by Handle Films to publicise its international premiere at the 2014 BFI London Film Festival. As well as marking the 100th anniversary of Moomin creator Tove Jansson, her niece, Sophia Jansson, was Associate Producer. The film was directed by Xavier Picard, produced by Hanna Hemila and voices were provided by Nathaniel Parker and Russell Tovey.
As well as achieving targeted publicity for the film, our role was to organise a post- screening press event for selected journalists, attended by members of the Finnish Film Foundation, and to liase with the Finnish Embassy on a select guest list for a lunch being held in the film’s honour.
