The political awakening of Youssou N’Dour

Earlier this year, the country of Senegal in West Africa called an election. Under usual circumstances, the current president Abdoulaye Wade would have concluded his two-term run and allowed for new contestants to run, one of which was the celebrated Senegalese musician Youssou N’Dour.

However, the 85-year-old Wade decided to run for a contested third term and Youssou N’Dour’s bid was rejected. Now actively supporting candidate Sally Mack ahead of the election run off on 25 March, Youssou N’Dour is working to raise the voice of protest and progress in Africa.
